# Glossary

| Word | Means |
|---|---|
| **Allowed sites** | The sites a project's editor may appear on, per environment. |
| **Chunks** | An export's HTML in pieces — body, CSS, JS, fonts — to place inside your own page. |
| **Design** | What your user makes in the editor. Never "template" or "document". |
| **Design document** | A design as JSON, to store and hand back. [More](/docs/api/design-document) |
| **Document** | One of the four modes: something for paper or a PDF. |
| **End user** | A person who uses the editor inside your product, known to Lettrove only by your id for them. |
| **Environment** | `test` or `live`, a property of keys. Not to be confused with mode. |
| **Export** | A design taken out of Lettrove: HTML, text, PDF, PNG, ZIP. Each is recorded. |
| **Merge tag** | A placeholder such as `{{contact.first_name}}`, filled at export. |
| **Mode** | What a project's editor makes: `email`, `page` (landing page), `popup` or `document`. |
| **Project** | One place your product uses the editor, with its own keys, sites, settings and brand. |
| **Publishable key** | `lt_pk_…`: public, in your page; says which project. |
| **Release** | A version of the editor served from `lettrove-embed.com`, e.g. `1.2.3`. |
| **Release candidate** | A release still being tested, e.g. `1.3.0-rc.1`; opens with test keys only. |
| **Revision** | A design's save count; goes up by one with each save. |
| **Secret key** | `lt_sk_…`: on your server only; mints tokens and calls the server API. |
| **Token** | A short-lived pass (up to 15 minutes) for one person, on one site, minted by your server. |
| **Webhook** | An address on your server that Lettrove calls when something happens. |
